The Canon imagePROGRAF TM-250 is a versatile 24-inch A1 hybrid printer and plotter, designed to switch smoothly between high-precision technical drawings and vivid colour marketing materials.
Built for offices that do it all, this compact machine delivers razor-sharp CAD lines plus rich posters and banners up to 18 metres. With Canon’s 5-colour LUCIA TD pigment ink, prints are more durable and smudge-resistant than standard output. Ideal for the handling of busy construction sites or high-traffic retail windows. It’s a quiet, all-in-one large format solution for studios that won’t compromise on quality or space.
True Hybrid Performance: Exceptional results for both fine-line CAD and vivid graphic posters.
Resilient Pigment Ink: Durable against handling and moisture; ideal for site plans and short-term window displays.
Quiet & Compact: Operating at just 39dB, it’s designed to sit right next to your desk without distraction.
The Canon TM-250 is the upgraded replacement for the popular TM-200, re-engineered to be faster, quieter, and more efficient. Whether you are printing A1 CAD drawings in just 20 seconds or full-colour posters in 22 seconds, the TM-250 delivers professional results with zero fuss.
Which Canon TM model is right for you?
The Canon TM range is designed to suit different types of users, depending on how often you print and which workflow features you need.
The Canon TM-240 – an entry-level 24” A1 printer, ideal for occasional printing and lower-volume environments.
The Canon TM-250 (this model) – the standard model in the range, designed for regular day-to-day printing, including CAD drawings, posters, plans, and presentations.
The Canon TM-255 – an enhanced version of the TM-250, offering additional workflow features such as a built-in hard drive, and USB direct print
For most offices printing A1 regularly, the TM-250 is the model that offers the best balance of performance, running costs, and ease of use.
Vibrant Colour: New magenta ink formulation for brighter, more punchy reds.
True Borderless Printing: Edge-to-edge printing on all roll sizes—no trimming required.
Durable Results: Pigment-based LUCIA inks for smudge- and water-resistant prints.
Impressive Speed: A1 CAD drawings ready in just 20 seconds.
Flexible Running Costs: Mix-and-match 130ml and 300ml ink tanks to suit your volume.
Smart Control: 4.3” touchscreen displays live media type, ink levels, and roll status.
Eco-Friendly: EPEAT Gold-rated and 60% quieter than previous models (only 39dB).
"Forget-Proof" Handling: Automatic detection of media type and remaining roll length.
In most cases, no. The TM-255 uses the same print engine, ink system, and produces the same print quality as the TM-250. The difference comes down to workflow features — such as a built-in hard drive, USB direct print, and PDF printing. These can be useful in busy multi-user environments or when handling large, complex files regularly. For most CAD drawings, posters, and office printing, these features aren’t essential, which is why many customers choose the TM-250.
The TM-250 is designed for these challenges. Canon’s new Magenta ink makes reds and purples stand out, which is great for eye-catching retail posters. For technical drawings, the 5-colour LUCIA TD system keeps lines sharp, so even 0.1mm architectural lines stay clear.
Paper will likely turn to mush, but the TM-250 can print onto a roll of hard-wearing polypropylene. The pigment inks make your prints smudge- and water-resistant. They can handle the damp conditions without the ink running or blurring.
The TM-250 is built for "walk-up-and-print" speed. It wakes from sleep mode almost instantly and delivers an A1 CAD drawing in just 20 seconds. Plus, by using borderless printing, your posters and presentations come off the machine "full-bleed" (edge-to-edge). This means you don't have to waste ten minutes at a cutting table trimming off white borders—it’s ready to present the moment it hits the basket.
The TM-250 is designed to minimise interruptions. The 4.3” touchscreen acts as a live dashboard, showing you exactly how many metres of paper are left on the roll before you even hit print.
The flat-top design makes roll changes quick and easy.
Even better, it features a Sub-Ink Tank system. Most printers stop dead the second a cartridge is empty, wasting the print you've already started. With the TM-250, there is a backup "buffer" of ink inside the machine, allowing you to swap the empty tank while the printer is still running.
And don't worry—GDS keeps a stock of all TM-250 inks. If you realise you're on your last drop, we can have a fresh set with you as early as the next working day.
Actually, it’ll be one of the quietest things in the room. The TM-250 has been engineered with sound-dampening technology, making it 60% quieter than previous models. At just 39dB, you can easily take a phone call or hold a meeting right next to it without having to raise your voice.
It’s also built with the planet in mind. It holds an EPEAT Gold sustainability rating, uses significantly less power in standby mode, and Canon has completely eliminated polystyrene from the packaging. It’s a professional-grade machine that fits into a modern office environment without the "industrial" noise.
The TM-250 is built for exactly that kind of "hybrid" workflow. It features full support for Apple AirPrint and Direct Print Plus, which means your team can send jobs directly from their mobile devices or tablets without the usual headache of complex driver installations. It’s designed to be "plug-and-play" for the whole office, regardless of which device they prefer.
It supports full Wi-Fi printing and Apple AirPrint, so you can send a drawing straight from your iPad or phone while standing in the studio. If you prefer a more traditional setup, it’s fully equipped for Ethernet (Network) or a direct USB connection to your PC.
A quick heads-up: Like most printers, Canon doesn’t include data cables in the box. To make things easier, we keep 5m USB and Ethernet cables in stock, and you can simply let us know if you’d like them added to your order.

Absolutely. The TM-250 is built for that exact kind of variety. It handles everything from standard 80gsm plain paper for everyday technical drawings to heavy 260gsm satin and gloss photo papers for high-impact posters.
It’s also a workhorse for high-volume jobs. It supports extra-long rolls up to 175m, which means far fewer interruptions to change the paper. Whether you're using the popular 594mm (true A1) rolls or need the flexibility of 2-inch and 3-inch cores, the machine adapts to you.
A quick tip from the GDS team: While the TM-250 can take manual A4 sheets for one-off tasks, we always recommend using the roll feed for your main print runs to keep things easy and efficient. Once finished, the automatic horizontal cutter neatly trims your work and drops it into the integrated catch basket, so your prints stay clean and off the floor.
It certainly can. The TM-250 features true borderless (edge-to-edge) printing on a wide range of heavier media, including matte, satin, and glossy finishes. This means your posters and display work come off the printer looking professional and ready to hang immediately.
By eliminating the need for manual trimming, you save significant time on every job. Just a quick note from the GDS team: Borderless printing is a brilliant feature for roll-fed media, but please keep in mind it isn't available when you are feeding individual sheets. Stick to the rolls for that perfect, "full-bleed" finish!
The Canon TM-250 uses a 5-colour LUCIA pigment ink system: Matte Black, Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. Each printer includes a full set of 90ml starter cartridges, so you can begin printing immediately. View the full range of compatible inks
It’s a question we get a lot, but for a high-precision machine like the TM-250, we recommend using Genuine Canon LUCIA TD Inks. These are pigment-based inks, which means they don't just look great—they are water-resistant and designed to "grip" the paper, so your fine CAD lines stay sharp, and your posters don't fade.
The TM-250 is a sophisticated bit of kit that relies on an original Canon chip to monitor ink flow and head health. Using non-genuine inks can lead to "ghosting" on your prints or, worse, expensive damage to the printhead itself. To protect your investment and ensure you’re always ready to print, we carry the full range of original Canon supplies ready for next-day delivery.
