The HP DesignJet Z6 series & Z9+ series printers take the HP 746 and HP 747 pigment-based ink cartridges and HP 746 Printheads. The HP 746 & HP 747 ink cartridges are designed to achieve high-contrast colour with chromatic HP Vivid Photo Inks and work in harmony with the high-definition HP printheads. HP 746 and 747 inks produce fade-resistant prints to last over 200 years (in dark storage – see HP for specific details). Prints will also have a good degree of water resistance – media dependent (we always recommend over laminating for longer-term outdoor use although the correct media setting and the correct outdoor media can have very good results without lamination. The HP Z6 and Z9+ models offer the ability to achieve higher quality with fewer inks to help lower your printing costs and the cost of replacing your consumables.Original HP Vivid Photo Inks are designed to maintain reliability and maximize the life of HP printheads and provide consistent, optimal results with every print.

Please note that the HP 746 Printheads are not colour specific until loaded into the printer. The HP Z6 models require 3 x printheads to run 6 inks and the HP Z9+ models required 5 printheads to run 10 ink cartridges. Once loaded each printhead runs two specific ink colours and cannot, therefore, be moved to another slot after initial installation.
