We get contacted a lot by customers wishing to produce a good quality bespoke wrapping paper products on their wide format digital inkjet printers. We've trialled both uncoated and coated papers for print quality, gift 'show through' and for the 'behaviour with sticky tape'. There's always a compromise between choosing a high quality, heavy weight paper to give the very best print results and selecting a paper that can be easily handled, folded, wrapped and taped down successfully.

We've come up with the ultimate compromise - this paper is a premium quality, matt coated inkjet paper produced for GDS by Canon with the following features:

• • Light weight - light enough to be held down with sticky tape

• • Good opacity - enough to hide the present underneath

• • High quality, smooth surface - a lovely feel in the hand to produce a quality product

• • High colour brightness and superb vivid colours

• • Instant dry - very good smear resistance - great if you're offering a bespoke 'while you wait' gift wrap service

• • Universal inkjet coating - suitable for any inkjet printer that takes 24" rolls - most commonly used on the Canon PRO-4000S, PRO-4000, iPF8400SE, iPF86400S, iPF8400, iPF750 and iPF770

• • Suitable for solid fills with full colour intensity. We recommend this paper for digitally printing gift wrap and wrapping paper with a repeated design - for a full colour photo image or a heavy ink load you may find that this paper 'cockles' slightly with the weight of ink. However, we have trialled it with all types of image and although there was a some cockling as the print came off, it had disappeared within a a few seconds as the design dried.
