On certain printer models HP offer a discount for trading in an old printer. This must be a large format printer or MFP - A1 or larger.
If you buy your new large format HP printer from us and it is eligible for the trade in deal, we can deduct the relevant trade in discount from the value of the new printer so you only pay the net amount. We then claim in the trade in value later, saving you the hassle of filling in online forms and raising the request yourself. We do the leg work for you!
Trade in deals with GDS are done on a trust basis. By placing an order for your new printer with a trade in, you will be accepting to pay the trade in value back to us should you fail to surrender your printer to HP, or if the serial number of that printer has already been used on a trade in. If the trade in fails or is not completed, we will notify you, invoice the balance and charge your original card for the value.
A typical example is shown right, where you can select a full price printer, or if you have a printer to trade in, select the trade in offer priced model - one printer, two prices.

We will require you to complete and sign a Transfer Document for HP – this is a single page PDF which gives HP the title of your printer (free of finance). This is required when we upload the trade in request online with HP. You will need to send the completed form to us via email before we ship your printer - together with a photograph of the serial number on the back of your trade in printer - the serial usually looks like this - Sample Serial Number Plate.
Once your new printer is on its way, we will complete the trade in request and we will arrange the collection of the old printer. This can take up to 10 - 15 days from delivery.
We will let you know by email when the collection is scheduled and we will send you a packing list, which must be printed and taped to the trade in printer so it can be tracked by barcode back to the depot. The old printer must be ready (with inks removed) at ground floor level for HP’s carriers to collect on the scheduled day. If the date given isn't convenient, let us know and we can rearrange.
If you have chosen an enhanced delivery service or a full installation and we are providing our own engineers, we may be able to collect your trade in printer on the day of installation of the new printer. If you have any special requirements or can't store the old printer, just give us a call and we will help wherever we can to make the process as smooth as possible. We aim to alleviate all the hassle!
Of course, you are always welcome to sort out the trade in process for yourself. Some customers require the trade in value to be sent to a specific bank account. In this case you can purchase the printer at the full price and then use the link below to submit the information to HP and claim your Trade In Value back. You just need to download and complete the Transfer Document and have your invoice from GDS, showing your new printer serial number & purchase date, ready to upload to HP. If you haven't received your VAT invoice, just give us a call.
