Are you looking to ensure longevity for your wide format printer? Then follow these top five tips to achieve the very best from your printer.?

5 Dos and Don?ts for your Wide Format Printer

?

  1. Do always use surge protection on the power supply to your wide format printer.
This protects your power supply against dips, spike and cuts in power. Printers really don?t like these and it can be catastrophic, affecting your printer?s main board (its brain), which is very costly to replace.

  2. Do use your wide format printer regularly. Inkjet printers love to be used regularly ? we say once a week is best at minimum.?
Printers thrive on regular use and this alone can help to avoid blockages and problems. If you only use black, make sure you run a small colour print every so often. Remember that the ink is water based liquid sitting in small tubes and fired through tiny printhead nozzles, so keeping it flowing is essential.

  3. Do follow the on screen instructions and let the machine carry out cleans when it wants to.
This is all set to help extend the life of your large format printer. Information about how to complete this task can be found in your printer user guide.

  4. Don?t let the machine get dusty and dirty ? this can affect the carriage and cause all sorts of issues.
Keep it clean! A clean wide format printer will minimise downtime and extend the life of your printer by preventing some of the issues that can be caused by dust and loose debris for instance. Learning how to care for your wide format printer will pay dividends. Again information on this can be found in your printer user guide. With both points 3 and 4 it is worth noting that completing these tasks correctly will help with your warranty on your wide format printer (and will hopefully prevent you from needing to use your warranty in the first place!).

  5. Don?t use compatible inks ? this may affect your printhead and damage your machine ? it isn?t likely to save you money in the long run.
We always recommend using genuine or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Ink. From potentially damaging your printer to providing poor results, mismatched colour and inferior ink technology, we know that it just is not worth it. For more information on this CLICK HERE

  6. Oh and number 6! Do call us if you have any questions, we are here to help.
